Kemper Garrison Bounds, 82, of Halifax, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Bounds was a native of Halifax County, the son of the late Clayton Purnell Bounds and Elzaida Foster Bounds. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Bounds.

Mr. Bounds is survived by his wife, Jeanette Glasgow Bounds; his daughter, Adele B. Harvey of Roanoke Rapids; two sons, Craig G. Bounds of Winterville and Steven L. Bounds of Halifax; eight grandchildren, Lisa M. Gooden, Heather Labrecque, Scott Pickett, Kristen Harvey, Brittany Bounds, Nicole Shearin, Allyson Bounds, and Natalie Bounds; four great-grandchildren, Haley Gooden, Matthew Smith, Abby Labrecque and Brianna Labrecque; and two brothers, William F. Bounds of Weldon and Robert S. Bounds of Norfolk, AR.

Graveside memorial services will be held Friday, October 9, at 2:00 p.m. at Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon with Rev. Grady Dickens officiating. The family will receive friends at the home.

The flag in front of the funeral home flies at half-staff in honor of Mr. Bounds’ service to his country.
